CHRIS SEED, co-founder of Adopt-A-Greyhound, greets the newest arrivals at the Syracuse Airport.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. May 23, 2000 -- How much is that doggy in…the 737?

Greyhound Pets of America/Greater Orlando is making a precious cargo shipment to Syracuse today. Delta Express, Delta's low-fare airline, is pitching in to support their worthwhile cause by transporting the nine greyhounds non-stop from Orlando, Florida to their destination in upstate New York.

May is the busy season for Greyhound Pets of America. The racing season is over and time is of the essence -- find new homes for the dogs or else. In 1999, the organization found homes for 786 of the 1118 dogs that were retired from Orlando race tracks. Like every year, the 2000 goal is 100 percent adoption.

"We're animal lovers. We just couldn't say no," said Paulette Corbin, managing director – Delta Express and adopter/owner of eight cats. "We were thrilled to donate this special transportation to help the Greyhound Pets of America with their mission to save these beautiful animals. By the way, anyone interested in adopting a dog?"

Greyhound Pets of America is a national non-profit organization dedicated to finding responsible loving homes for greyhounds who have retired from racing.

'Northbound Hounds'

Once the nine greyhounds arrived in Syracuse, they were met by volunteers of Adopt-A-Greyhound of Central Canada, Inc., to continue their journey North. All nine of these beautiful creatures had waiting homes in Canada, thanks to the co-operative efforts of these two non-profit greyhound placement agencies.
